DeSean Rollen
is a native of Augusta, Georgia, where he developed a strong foundation in piano performance. He earned his master’s degree in piano performance and pedagogy from the University of Georgia, studying with esteemed pedagogues Dr. Evgeny Rivkin and Dr. Peter Jutras. During his graduate studies, he served as a teaching assistant for the UGA Community Music School, gaining extensive experience in individual and group instruction.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Augusta State University where he studied under Dr. Rosalyn Floyd. During his undergraduate career, he performed in the Westabou Festival Recital and earned recognition in competitions and masterclasses sponsored by the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) and the Georgia Music Teachers Association (GMTA).
After completing his studies, DeSean relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he expanded his musical footprint as a private instructor and online music educator. He collaborated with local musicians across a variety of genres, produced music for recording artists, and worked as an A&R representative for a subsidiary of Sony Music, contributing to artist development and creative production.
DeSean’s solo piano repertoire primarily features works from the early and late Romantic eras. He is increasingly active as a collaborator and coach, with a growing reputation for musical sensitivity, stylistic versatility, and artistic depth. He currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Music and Collaborative Pianist for the University Choral Program at Texas Southern University, where he supports the University Choir, University Singers, and Cadence Chorale, and is sought after as both a solo performer and collaborator. DeSean now resides in Houston, Texas
